A prosthesis is an artifical device that replaces a lost body part, with the aim of restoring function.
An orthosis is an artifical device that supports a body part with the aim of restoring function.
The STIL Orthosis support the forearm in reducing tremors.
Our clinical results has shown that the device is effective for essential tremor that are most present in the forearm and the hand.
For other tremor locations (e.g. upper arm) or other tremor disorders (Parkinson’s/Dystonia/MS) are still in experimental phase.
Good to know: we always check your tremor before making an appointment. This avoids disappointment and unnecessary travel time.
Everybody can try out the orthosis for free during a test fitting.
- During this test fitting, we start with assessing your tremor.
- Then we will teach you how to put on the device.
- Once you are accustomed to wearing the device, you can try different daily tasks. Like eating, drinking or writing.
- If there is something you would like to try, like playing an instrument, please feel free to bring this to the appointment.
Since the orthosis is a mechanical device, the effects are immediately visible. What you see is what you get.
If you are satisfied with the orthosis, you can purchase the device immediately.
The price of our orthosis is available from our certified partners.
The STIL orthosis is not reimbursed by health insurance.
Although we are working on this, this could certainly take years.
As of January 2024, the STIL Orthosis can only be tried in the Netherlands.
We are doing everything we can to make the orthosis also available for testing in other countries.
